What is an Aquatic Habitat?
An aquatic habitat is a habitat with water in which certain organisms live naturally. It consists of areas that are predominantly and occasionally covered by water.
Examples of aquatic animals include fish, jellyfish, sharks, turtles, whales, octopuses, sea otters, eels, crabs, dolphins, crocodiles, rays, mussels, e.t.c.
Examples of aquatic plants include seaweeds, algae, Sesuvium, water hyacinth, water lettuce, water fern, duckweed, water lilies, and watergrass.
Types of Aquatic Habitats:
There are three types of aquatic habitats:
- Marine habitat (saltwater habitat)
- Estuarine habitat (brackish water habitat)
- Freshwater habitat
