3. Services:

This is a tertiary occupation which entails the professional rendering of services to the public in which payment is made directly or by the government. This type of occupation is carried out by those who have acquired special skills or are professionals in their various fields.

Types of Services: 

 Services are sub-divided into direct and indirect services:

(a) Direct Services: In this case, the beneficiary makes payments directly to the supplier of goods and services. Direct Service is peculiar to self-employed and private organizations such as barbers, watchmen, private doctors, private lawyers, etc.

(b) Indirect Services: This is a service rendered by an individual(s) or group of people directly to the public but in which payment is made indirectly by the government from the taxpayer’s money. These people include the police force, state and federal doctors and lawyers, school teachers, soldiers, engineers, etc.
