Determination of the Upper Fixed Point:

Aim of Experiment: To determine the upper fixed point of a thermometer.

Apparatus: Double-walled copper vessel, manometer, cork, thermometer, heat source, water.

Hypsometer (Upper fixed point)

The apparatus is set up as shown above. The thermometer is pushed through a hole in a cork and placed inside a double-walled copper vessel called a hypsometer. The thermometer is positioned in such a way that the mercury thread in the bulb can be seen.
