What is Malnutrition?
An imbalance of nutrient intake, due to consumption of too little or too much of one or many nutrients, is called malnutrition.
It also refers to insufficient, excessive, or imbalanced consumption of nutrients. In developed countries, the diseases of malnutrition are most often associated with nutritional imbalance or excessive consumption.
Signs/Symptoms of Malnutrition:
Symptoms of malnutrition include;
- feeling cold, tired and weak
- reduced appetite
- getting ill often and taking a long time to recover
- poor concentration
- wounds taking a long time to heal
- lack of interest in eating and drinking
- low mood, sadness and depression
