- Features of a Speech
A speech is an address which you present to a live audience. Unlike the letter and other forms of writing which do not require personal contact with the people to whom you write, a speech demands personal contact with your audience.
The implication of this is that the speechmaker has an instant reward for his efforts. If he delivers a good speech, the audience shows appreciation by clapping for and cheering the speaker. On the other hand, if the speech is poor, controversial, or objectionable, the audience may react by losing interest, walking out on the speaker, or even booing him.
