The four jumping events are:

1. High jump
2. Long jump
3. Triple jump
4. Pole vault

The Jumps Are Grouped Into Two:

1. Vertical jumps
2. Horizontal jumps

Vertical Jumps:

Vertical jump is the act of jumping upwards into the air (height jumps). e.g.

a. High jump: Athletes have a short run up and then take off from one foot to jump over a horizontal bar and fall back onto a cushioned landing area.

b. Pole Vault: This event requires a competitor to leap over a bar, using a long flexible pole made either of carbon fiber or fiberglass, and fall back onto a cushioned landing area.

Horizontal jumps are jumps for distance e.g.
