A first aider gives immediate help to the injured person/casualty while making sure the immediate area is safe for the injured person and others around the area.
Qualities of a good first aider include:
1. Resourceful: A good first aider should be resourceful and humane.
2. Intelligent and Decisive: Ability to make quick and excellent decisions.
3. Confident: He or she should be confident and bold.
4. Neat: A good first aider should be neat and tidy.
5. Flexible: He or she should be agile and flexible.
6. Controlled and Calm: A good first aid provider should be controlled, calm and avoid panicking.
7. Skilled: A first aider should have basic first aid/medical skills which are to be performed under pressure.
8. Team Player: A first aider should be able to work efficiently with those around, other first aiders and the medical staff that arrive.
