The equilibrium law is based on the law of mass action which states that the rate at which a reaction proceeds is directly proportional to the concentration of the active species in the system.
Equilibrium constant is a measure of the ratio of the equilibrium concentration of the products of a reaction to the equilibrium of the reactants, with each concentration raised to the power corresponding to the coefficient in the balanced equation of the reaction.
