Examples of Questions on Solubility Curve
Topic Content:
- Examples of Questions on Solubility Curve
Example 2.7.1:
1. The solubility values of potassium trioxochlorate(V) at different temperatures are given thus
Temperature | 0 | 10 | 20 | 30 | 40 | 50 | 60 | 70 |
Solubility (mol/dm3) | 5.3 | 5.90 | 6.5 | 7.00 | 7.5 | 8.00 | 8.5 | 9.00 |
Plot the solubility curve for KClO3 from the result above. From your graph answer the question below
(i) What is the solubility of KClO3 at 25°C?
(ii) At what temperature will 1000 cm3 of water dissolve 7.3 moles of KClO3 to form a saturated solution?
(iii) What will be the mass of KClO3that crystallizes out of the solution when a saturated solution made in 1000 g of water is cooled from 62°C to 15°C
Solution

(i) 6.73 mol/dm3
