Exothermic Reaction:
This is a chemical reaction in which heat is liberated or given off to the surroundings. The surroundings become hotter at the end of the reaction. Heat change [∆H] in an exothermic reaction is negative. Examples of exothermic processes include:
(a) Dissolution of pellets of NaOH or KOH or CaO in water.
(b) Neutralization reaction
(c) Displacement reaction
(d) Addition of concentrated acid to water
