- Structure of a Tooth
In mammals there are four kinds of teeth, these teeth are of different shapes and sizes and are referred to as heterodont dentition, namely incisors, canines, premolars, and molars. Not all the different teeth may be found in an animal.
Incisors: Incisors are sharp, flattened, and chisel-shaped, located at the front of the jaw. They are used for cutting on pieces of food and holding onto the prey.
