To contest the election in the Western region in 1965, three (3) political parties were the main contenders’ AG, NCNC and NNDP.
Western region election was slated for October 1965. The nomination of candidates was scheduled to close on 27th September 1965.
Causes of the Western Region Crisis of 1965:
1. UPGA party members were unable to file nomination papers as they were finding it difficult to find the local electoral officers to accept the nomination papers of candidates. The NNDP members were able to submit theirs.
