Tracheophytes are known as vascular plants due to the fact that they have vascular tissues (xylem and phloem) for transporting nutrients and water.

This is the largest group of plants and the division includes the subdivisions Pteridophytina (spore-bearing vascular plants) and Spermatophytina (seed-bearing plants).
